Visitor Information & Policies

Group & Guided Tours

Discover The Station at Michigan Central through guided tours powered by Detroit History Tours. Expert guides will lead you on a 90-minute journey through the ground floor to experience The Station’s historic restoration and transformation from shuttered train depot to the centerpiece of Michigan Central’s 30-acre tech and cultural hub.

Group Tours

Guided tours designed for groups of up to 25 people. Click here to book a private tour for your group. Options for larger groups are also available.

Guided Public Tours

Individuals, families, and small groups can reserve spots on guided, public tours. Click here to join one of our upcoming tours. Space is limited; advanced booking is recommended.

Hours of Operation

Visits to The Station are currently limited to Group & Guided Tours only while we continue to work on construction for the building’s next phase of activation. Stay tuned for updates on additional opportunities to visit The Station this fall.

Hours of operation are subject to change at the discretion of Michigan Central.

Parking

Visitors are encouraged to park at Michigan Central’s Bagley Mobility Hub parking garage located at 1501 Wabash, Detroit, MI 48216. Parking at The Bagley Mobility Hub is $10 per vehicle. Pricing is subject to change for special events. EV charging is also available for purchase.

Shop

Take home a piece of The Station with our official merchandise. The Shop is open during Group & Guided Tours. Visit The Shop, nestled within the landscaping outside the main guest entrance on  the east side of the building.

Photography

General

All photography is limited to personal use only, without written pre-authorization from Michigan Central. Selfie sticks, tripods, lighting equipment, wireless microphones or any UHF/VHF wireless devices are prohibited. Unauthorized devices will be powered down. Personal photography cannot block or disrupt other guests or operations.

Professional photo and video equipment is not permitted inside The Station without prior approval.

Portraits

Capture your milestones and memories at The Station.

Michigan Central offers limited availability for professional portrait photography (e.g., wedding, engagement and family portraits) for personal use only. Please bring your own photographer; Michigan Central does not provide photography services for portrait reservations.

Online booking and payment must be completed in advance to reserve a time. New times will be added on a rolling basis, up to one month in advance. Please continue to check back for updated availability if you do not see a time that works for you. Michigan Central will only accommodate portrait photography via the online booking system.

Cost: $250 per 30 minutes, due at the time of booking.

Michigan Central staff will be on-site during all sessions. Photography is limited to ground floor areas designated by Michigan Central personnel upon arrival.

Booking a session does not guarantee exclusive use of any spaces within The Station, please be aware that other activities including but not limited to other portrait sessions, event production, and tours may be happening simultaneously. Photography cannot block or disrupt other guests or operations.

Hand-held and camera-mounted detachable flashes are allowed.

Tripods, monopods, lighting equipment stands, equipment wagons, wireless microphones, UHF/VHF wireless devices, large props, animals, confetti, glitter, open flames, smoke bombs, or any other items that may damage, discolor, or leave debris on the property are prohibited. Michigan Central reserves the right to remove parties engaged in disruptive behavior or the use of prohibited items.

Accessibility

Entry

All guest entrances are ADA accessible. Michigan Central does not provide wheelchairs. Please bring your own personal mobility aids.

Parking & Drop-off
Parking is available at the Bagley Mobility Hub, located one block from The Station (1501 Wabash St, Detroit, MI 48216). The parking structure and pedestrian path to The Station are ADA accessible. Limited accessible street parking is also available on surrounding roads.

ADA drop off is available at the East entrance triangle off 15th Street.  Visitors may drop off members of their party and park at the Bagley Mobility Hub. 

Restrooms

All restrooms are ADA accessible.

Service Animals

Michigan Central abides by the ADA regarding the admission of service animals based on their ability to perform a specific task. Animals regarded as comfort animals, therapy animals, companion animals or emotional support animals are not service animals as defined by the ADA. Therefore, they are not allowed at Michigan Central.

Official Videotaping and Photography Consent

Michigan Central and its affiliated entities, agents, and designees will be filming, videotaping, and/or taking photographs (“Recording”) at the event sites and surrounding area. By entering The Station property, you consent to such recording, and expressly grant to Michigan Central and their respective partners, sponsors, licensees, advertisers, broadcasters, and streamers the irrevocable permission to use your name, image, likeness, voice, actions, and/or statements captured in connection with such Recording, without compensation, for any purpose whatsoever, in all media now known or hereafter created, throughout the universe, in perpetuity. All Recordings shall be the sole property of Michigan Central and by entering any 2024 Michigan Central event, you hereby release Michigan Central and all of the above listed entities and persons from any and all liability for (a) infringement of any rights arising from this Recording, or the exploitation thereof, (b) any claims based upon invasion of privacy, libel, slander, false light, right of publicity, misappropriation of name, likeness or image, or the concept known as droit morale and (c) any injury, loss, or damage, to persons or property. If you do not agree to the foregoing terms and conditions, please do not enter this event.

What are the Safety Policies

Michigan Central is committed to creating a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable experience for all attendees. To ensure this, attendees are required to refrain from the following at all times:

  • Behavior that is unruly, disruptive, or illegal
  • Intoxication or other signs of drug or alcohol impairment that result in irresponsible behavior
  • Offensive language or obscene gestures, including the use of such language or gestures concerning a person’s race, ethnicity, color, gender, religion, creed, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, or national origin; or to instigate, incite or encourage a confrontation or physical assault
  • Interference with the progress of the events (including throwing objects and any unauthorized entry)
  • The unlawful use of controlled substances (including marijuana) or illegal drugs 
  • Smoking, including vaporizers, e-cigarettes, and smokeless tobacco
  • Failing to follow the instructions of Michigan Central event staff
  • Verbal or physical harassment of any other attendee
  • Conduct that results in damage to the event site or other personal property
  • Any conduct deemed inappropriate or dangerous to attendees or participants
  • Violations of any city/county ordinances, state, federal, or other applicable laws or regulations

What is Prohibited

Michigan Central is a smoke-free environment. The use of tobacco products, vapes, e-cigarettes, and cannabis is prohibited. Michigan Central reserves the right to do a thorough inspection of bags and personal items upon entry.  Items determined to be inappropriate for entry will be the responsibility of the attendee and cannot be accepted, stored, or checked by Michigan Central. Prohibited items include the items listed below, as well as anything else security flags. Exceptions/accommodations may be made if medically necessary:

  • Firearms, weapons, knives, and explosives
  • Pets of any kind other than designated service animals
  • All outside food and beverage, including but not limited to alcohol
  • Illegal substances
  • Tripods, selfie-sticks, lighting or other recording/photography/videography equipment without advanced permission
  • Bottles, cans, thermoses, coolers, aerosol cans, cups, and beverage containers of any kind
  • Offensive, obscene, threatening, abusive, or discriminatory clothing
  • Any banners, flags, or signs
  • Any other item deemed inappropriate or unsafe by Michigan Central Security
