Michigan Central is pleased to introduce Cornetta Lane-Smith as the new director of community engagement. She is a lifelong Detroiter well-known for founding several community-driven projects including Pedal to Porch, Core City Stories and Dinner for 30. Lane-Smith is deeply involved in creating opportunities for people to uplift and celebrate Detroit’s neighborhoods, history, culture and identity. 

“I’m honored to engage the community in the ongoing work at Michigan Central and to facilitate continuous conversation about advancing equity,” she said. “I grew up in Core City, just up the street from Michigan Central, so I am grateful to bring a perspective that is rooted in my neighborhood experiences. 

“As work progresses, I will be focused on centering community voices to ensure Michigan Central’s long-term relevancy and benefit to our community.”
