Michigan Central is pleased to introduce Alondra Carter-Alvizo as our associate director of community engagement. Originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, Carter-Alvizo was raised in Southwest Detroit. She has dedicated her career to services centered around community and economic development, and she’s committed to bridging understandings that center on Detroit’s authenticity and rich cultural history.

In previous roles, she organized improvement projects for local food systems, neighborhoods and economic development with Michigan State University Extension, Southwest Detroit Environmental Vision, and Detroit Means Business at the DEGC.

“I am deeply humbled and excited by the opportunity to continue bringing community voices and perspectives to the forefront in such a historic project,” she said. “I look forward to engaging with our neighbors and making Michigan Central a place where all are represented and feel welcome!”
